Follows van Bronckhorst
The Glasgow Rangers have presented an old acquaintance as their successor after the separation from coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The top Scottish club announced on Monday that Englishman Michael Beale will be on the sidelines from now on. The 42-year-old, who was Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Rangers between 2018 and 2021, comes from English second division club QPR and has signed a contract until 2026. It is Beale’s second head coaching position in the professional field.
Beale only took over QPR in June and oversaw 22 games in which he averaged 1.41 points. The coach leaves the club in seventh place while Rangers are currently second in the Scottish Premiership, nine points adrift of neighbors Celtic. “Unfortunately, the results and performance in recent months have not lived up to expectations,” said the club van Bronckhorst’s Aus. The Dutchman averaged 2.01 points per game in 68 games and had led the club back into the Champions League for the first time in twelve years, losing all group games there.
Michael Beale is the 18th manager of Rangers with the club delighted to confirm his appointment today.
