The German volleyball players lost their second game in the Nations League after a good start.

The team of the new national coach Michal Winiarski lost 1:3 (25:18, 22:25, 17:25, 20:25) to the Olympic bronze medalist Argentina in Ottawa, Canada. The best German scorer was Linus Weber (19 points).

At the start, the selection of the German Volleyball Association defeated host Canada 3-0.

In the first of a total of three group stages, Germany meets Bulgaria (Friday) and Serbia (Saturday) in the Canadian capital.

The best eight of the 16 teams qualify for the quarter-finals, last season Germany finished 13th.

Winiarski only took over the DVV team in April after Andrea Giani left at short notice.
