Ten days before their return to the European Championships after twelve years, the German basketball players have come a little closer to their desired form.
In the second international match within 24 hours with Israel, co-host of the European Championship, the team of national coach Lisa Thomaidis took revenge with a 78:63 (44:23) for the close 69:73 defeat from the previous day.
The selection of the German Basketball Federation reports back at the European Championship finals from June 15th in Israel and Slovenia at the continental elite tournament.
Most recently, the German players took part in a European Championship finals in Poland in 2011. The last of only two bronze medals dates from 1997.
Thomaidis’ team will compete in the preliminary round of the European Championship in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Opponents of the German team in Group C are France on the first day of the European Championship, followed by co-hosts Slovenia (June 16) and Great Britain at the end of the preliminary round.
The group winner advances directly to the quarter-finals. The two teams behind can also qualify for the round of the top eight in an intermediate round.
