Germany Tour 2022: Adam Yates celebrates overall victory

Brit Adam Yates won the Germany Tour 2022. Augsburg’s Georg Zimmermann finished the tour in fourth place.

After four stages plus a prologue and a total of around 700 kilometers, Adam Yates from the team celebrated Ineos Grenadiers in Stuttgart overall victory in the German state tour, which has been revived for four years, ahead of the Spaniard Pelo Bilbao (+0:22 min.) and the Portuguese Ruben Guerreiro (+0:44).

Zimmermann fourth overall

The fourth and final stage over 188 kilometers from Schiltach to Stuttgart was won Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious) in the sprint of an arg decimated field, to which next Yates also belonged to Georg Zimmermann from Augsburg.

The 24-year-old professional cyclist from the team Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux came behind Bilbao and Guerreiro finished third in Stuttgart and finished the Deutschland Tour in fourth place overall, 47 seconds behind Yates and only three seconds behind the podium.

Gessner wins mountain jersey

The final stage with another 3,100 meters in altitude was dominated by a seven-person breakaway group for a long time. Inside was the German master Nils Politt (Bora-hansgrohe). The escapees were broken up by the group on the final lap through Stuttgart Yates posed, who then sprinted for victory and the bonus seconds in the end.

Jakob Gessner from the Lotto-Kern Haus team won the blue mountain jersey. Bilbao secured the green jersey for the best sprinter.
