Germany and the instrumental scam? Pierre Mignerey knocks down

A possible fluoride scam is the hot potato of the Beijing Olympics. The ski boss doesn’t believe the rumors.

Germany’s sensational success at the Beijing Olympics has raised suspicions of instrumental scam behind the scenes. Iltalehti said on Thursday that insiders suspected Germany of using a banned C8 fluoride cream.

Competition Director of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Pierre Mignerey gets to know about the rumors for the first time from Iltalehti.

– I haven’t heard. I have no reason to believe such rumors, Mignerey reports.

Germany won the women’s message silver on Saturday. The team’s skis were obviously the best on the curve.

The snow in the post was wetter than before in the Games. C8 fluoride creams are most useful in wet and dirty snow.

However, Mignerey does not believe in fraud.

– Pyh. I don’t think it makes any sense. There has been no snow here where these products are effective.

– Maybe people have noticed that Germany has a better glide. I don’t see this. I don’t think so at all.

No control

The FIS banned the use of C8 ointments just before the Olympics. The national teams have C8 wins in Beijing as the alignment came in the last drop.

The manufacture and sale of C8 creams is prohibited in the European Union. They may also not be used in competitions under the FIS.

The FIS does not yet have a functioning field test to detect banned fluorides.

No sanctions will therefore be imposed for a possible breach.

– There is currently no control or testing. The matter has not yet been confirmed, but monitoring of the rule will begin next season. I still don’t believe such rumors, especially about this team, Mignerey underlines.

Finland also has C8 creams included. They were packed before the FIS ban.

Quartermaster Mika of Russia According to Finland, Finland has not used prohibited powders.

– After being tested and compared, mainly new authorized products have been test winners. Because of that, there is no temptation to use, the lubrication expert said.

The German baton also served in the women’s double message, where Katharina Hennig and Victoria Carl took surprise gold.

However, the weather was cold and dry.

Conflict does not hurt

During the Olympics, the final race of the World Ski Cup has also been in full swing.

The season will be put on a package in Tyumen, Russia. In Western Siberia, the race has been considered dubious due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the coronavirus situation.

– The political situation is not our field. We organize sporting events. We see no reason to consider the event from a political point of view. So there are no problems with Tyumen, Mignerey says.

The FIS boss also keeps the venue safe.

– It is 70 kilometers from Tyumen to the nearest town. Only people participating in the World Cup will be present. Tyumen is even safer than Lahti, Falun or Oslo. We are not worried at all.

The Beijing Olympics will end on Sunday, February 20th. The World Ski Cup will continue next weekend in Lahti.
