Johannes Ludwig has been in the toboggan business for a few years, but he has never been as good as this season. The 35-year-old from Suhl impressed with record runs at the home World Cup on Saturday (01/15/2022) in Oberhof.
After his fifth World Cup victory this season, Ludwig also won the overall World Cup for the first time in his career. “The overall victory shows the consistency over the entire season, which I rate very highly”, said Ludwig im ZDF.
Max Langenhan (Friedrichroda/+0.304 seconds) and Felix Loch (Berchtesgaden/+0.316) rounded off the magnificent German performance. “It was a great day. At the moment I’m really happy to be up on the podium. Especially after my corona infection”, Loch said: “Hansi did a really great run twice today and deserved to win.”
Double track record
But the focus was on Ludwig, who set a track record (42.554 s) in the first run and promptly broke this record in the second run. 42.515 seconds – nobody has ever been faster on the track in the Thuringian Forest.
