The German referee Felix Brych announced his end of his career at the end of the season.

So far, Felix Brych has completed 352 missions in the Bundesliga as a referee. However, too many will no longer be added. The 49-year-old referee announced his resignation on Sunday “Bild Sport” at Welt TV.

Brych said: “I wanted to announce the end of my career at the end of the season here and today.” In addition, the native of Munich explained about his decision and how he came about: “This is a process that takes place. As an athlete, you realize that it is becoming increasingly difficult to withstand this level of performance.”

The referee stated: “I spoke to my wife. Also with the DFB. Now is the time when you would have to plan the next season. And I won’t go this season.”

Felix Brych is a lawyer and was already a referee during his studies. He has been whistling games in the Bundesliga since 2004. He also headed international Champions League games from 2008 to 2021 and is also a FIFA referee.

The impartial also explained on Sunday in the show: “The effort I have to do is exorbitantly high. It is a dream to whistle in the Bundesliga, but it has to be worth it. I am glad that I can take this step . I want to put this end myself. “

In his career, Brych was elected DFB referee of the year five times. He received the award in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2021. He was also in use at numerous international tournaments. He headed games at the 2014 World Championships in Brazil and 2018 in Russia as well as at the 2014 and 2021 European Championships. Brych was also deployed at the 2012 Olympics in London.
