German pop star sings EM song

The German pop star Kim Petras sings the official song for the home European Championships with the US band One Republic and the Italian electro band Meduza.

The European Football Union (UEFA) announced this as part of the draw for the EURO (June 14th to July 14th) on Saturday in Hamburg. However, the song wasn’t introduced at all.

None of the artists were at the ceremony either. Instead, in a video directly before the preliminary round groups were drawn, it was simply announced who would be taking part in the European Championship song. Among them is Petras, from whom – like One Republic and Meduza – well-known music could already be heard.

The EM song, the title of which is still a secret, is scheduled to be officially presented in the spring. Petras and Co. should go into the recording studio in the next few months.

The singer, who was born in Cologne and lives in Los Angeles, became the first transgender artist to win a Grammy in February. Together with British singer Sam Smith, she was named best pop duo for their hit “Unholy.” Her debut album “Feed the Beast” was released in June.
