After Germany received half as many asylum applications last year as in 2022, Berlin is now opting for a stricter migration policy. On Thursday, the German parliament adopted a series of measures that mainly focus on facilitating the deportation of migrants without valid residence status. Human rights organizations were immediately critical of the new measures.
