German gas storage tanks are still almost 100 percent full

On Friday, the European gas storage association GIE reported a filling level of 99.98 percent. The value indicates the status as of Thursday morning. On Monday morning he had reached 100 percent for the first time and had gone a little over it. This is technically possible because the 100 percent only marks the secured storage capacity. After two days with slight declines, the filling levels were able to increase again on balance. The largest German storage facility in Rehden, Lower Saxony, was 94.7 percent full on Thursday morning, and the trend is rising recently.

On Thursday morning, 245.4 terawatt hours of natural gas were stored in German gas storage facilities. For comparison: In January and February 2022, according to the Federal Network Agency, a total of almost 227 terawatt hours of natural gas were consumed in Germany.
