German farmers block border crossings – RTV Drenthe

German farmers’ protests mean that the border roads at Zwartemeer, Nieuw-Schoonebeek and Ter Apel are blocked. Tractors hinder traffic.

The road is closed between Zwartemeer and Meppen. Border traffic cannot use the A37, which turns into the B402. In addition, the road between Nieuw-Schoonebeek and Twist is closed due to tractors blocking the road. The road between Ter Apel and Rütenbrock in Germany is also completely closed. The police have already closed the road one exit earlier, so that traffic does not get stuck.

German farmers are angry with the German government because of tax increases and cuts in subsidies for agricultural vehicles. The plans have already been toned down, but the actions still continue. Dutch traffic is now also a victim of this. The protest is part of a larger protest movement, farmers have announced that they will protest for a week.

Dutch farmers support the farmers’ actions and help with the blockade.
