Crunch time at the European Basketball Championship! The German basketball players are facing their biggest game of the past decade: In the quarter-finals, Gordon Herbert’s team will meet favorites Greece around NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. In the showdown for the semi-finals, RTL is live on free TV.
The German basketball players also confirmed their outstanding form in the round of 16 against Montenegro. The quarter-finals against Greece will now be shown free-to-air on TV for the first time.
RTL will broadcast the basketball spectacle live on Tuesday (September 13) from 8:15 p.m. from Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena. Laura Papendick will be the moderator.
All games of the German team are also played on MagentaSport. ARD will also broadcast the quarter-finals from Berlin in an audio report on sportschau.de.

Captain Dennis Schröder’s team is hoping for the third European Championship medal in the final round in Berlin after gold in 1993 and silver in 2005. 17 years ago, Germany, then with basketball icon Dirk Nowitzki, lost the European Championship final to the Greeks.
After the first games of the tournament, the President of the German Basketball Federation, Ingo Weiss, criticized the public broadcasters ARD and ZDF for not showing the German games live. The broadcasters rejected the criticism. So far, the German games have only been streamed free of charge by the Internet broadcaster Magentasport.
“I’m very happy that RTL is broadcasting our quarter-finals live, giving the general public the opportunity to be there,” said Weiss. “At the same time, I would like to thank our media partner MagentaSport for making this broadcast possible.
