German duo surprises with 3rd place

The young pair skaters Letizia Roscher (18) and Luis Schuster (21) from Chemnitz surprised positively at their Grand Prix debut in the USA.

Before the final pair skating freestyle at Skate America in Norwood near Boston, the two are third in the intermediate classification after a good short program without any major mistakes. World champions Alexa Knierim/Brandon Frazier (USA) are in the lead.

“We’re proud of ourselves in view of so many new things here,” said Schuster, and Roscher added: “We’ve been to America for the first time, for the first time at a Grand Prix and never before have we run in front of so many spectators.”

After the men’s short program, the Japanese Kao Miura leads ahead of the South Korean Junhwan Cha and the Italian Daniel Grassl. German runners are not at the start.
