German duo missing from giant slalom world cup in Sestriere

Emma Aicher and Stefan Luitz will have to forego their start at the Alpine Skiing World Cup this Saturday.

As the German Ski Association (DSV) announced, the 19-year-old from Mahlstetten cannot start the giant slalom in Sestriere, Italy, because of an infection. Andrea Filser will replace Aicher as the second starter, Jessica Hilzinger in the German squad.

Luitz falls out of the giant slalom in Val d’Isere in France because of flu. This means that Anton Grammel, Fabian Gratz, Julian Rauchfuss, Alexander Schmid and Linus Straßer will also be in the running for DSV.

On Sunday there is again a slalom in Sestriere for the women and a slalom for the men in Val d’Isere. Whether Aicher can compete there as planned remains to be seen. Luitz was not intended as a starter for the slalom.
