Canoeist Peter Kretschmer secured the title in the single canoe over 160 m at the German championships as part of the “Finals” in Berlin.

The London Olympic champion won the duel against Nico Pickert (Bochum) in the photo finish on Saturday. “I’m very proud that I did it. A bit of luck is also required when it comes to the finish jump,” said Kretschmer, who had defeated Sebastian Brendel in the preliminary heat, on ARD.

Berlin’s Tim Hecker, who won bronze in the canoe pair alongside Brendel at the Tokyo Olympics, won the small final against Moritz Adam and finished third.

In the women’s single kayak, Jule Hake underscored her supremacy in the German team. The 22-year-old from Lünen easily won the final against Paulina Paszek. Bronze went to Caroline Arft.
