Gerda Quak becomes deputy secretary general at the Ministry of Finance. The Council of Ministers has approved the nomination on the proposal of Minister De Jonge of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment takes effect on November 1, 2023.

The position of Deputy Secretary General (PSG) at Finance is divided into two primary areas of focus. First of all, the PSG is the (delegated) owner for most implementation organizations and supervisors in the field of Finance, such as the Tax Authorities, Benefits, Customs, the Valuation Chamber and Domains of Movable Property. In addition, the PSG is departmentally responsible for business operations and therefore the management of most central directorates.

The PSG plays an important role in the further development of the ministry’s organization. Socially and politically, there is a lot of attention for improving information management and the provision of information to, among others, the House of Representatives and society. The Ministry of Finance considers it an important task to improve information management. The PSG is the driving force behind improving information management. The PSG also plays an important role in the field of digitalization. The PSG is the CIO of the ministry.

GAM (Gerda) Quak RA has been Director of Operations since 2018 and also Deputy Secretary-Director at the Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier. From 2014 to 2018 she held the position of Director of Organization, Operations and Personnel at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. And from 2009 to 2013 she was Director of Tax Information Management at the Ministry of Finance. She previously held various positions at the Tax Authorities, Customs and the FIOD.

Gerda Quak is a chartered accountant and she completed the Executive Master’s degree in Information Management at the University of Amsterdam up to the master’s thesis.

This appointment was made through the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service. The recruitment and selection for this appointment was done by Directorate General ABD and the Ministry of Finance. As usual, the vacancy was widely advertised so that everyone could apply.
