Gerard Nijboer will be a guest in the Clemenskerk in Havelte this Sunday during a village discussion of ‘De Lerende Weg’. De Uffelter became world famous as a marathon runner, he won an Olympic silver medal in 1980 and became European champion in Athens.
Nijboer is not going to pull old cows out of the ditch this afternoon and only talk about his running past, but he will discuss what sport and fitness do. As a former social-psychiatric nurse and marathon runner, he obviously knows well how the balance between head and body works.
Lifestyle program
He is also the founder of the iRun2BFit Foundation in 2006. The iRun2BFit Foundation lays a solid foundation for an energetic and fit life for students from the first three classes of secondary education. The exercise and lifestyle program makes a sustainable contribution to the physical, mental and social well-being of growing young adults. Since its inception, more than 60,000 students have participated in iRun2BFit.
The meeting in the Clemenskerk starts at 4 p.m., afterwards a drink and snack will be available. Registration is not necessary, access is based on a voluntary contribution.
