Gerard Joling has the feeling that RTL 4 is not really waiting to use him as prominently as SBS 6 did for years. That is what the entertainer says in front of the Shownieuws camera.
During his lucrative years at SBS 6, Gerard Joling was the big star of the channel. He was put on almost all major shows. Now that he is under contract with RTL 4, we actually see him quite little. And that is a shame, says Tina Nijkamp. The former channel boss of SBS 6 has the idea that Gerard is undervalued.
Tina pleads for Gerard
Tina advocates using Gerard more, especially now that young TV talents are seeing their shows flop all the time. She wrote this week on her analysis channel: “The young artists Snelle, Rapper Donnie and Kalvijn all flopped presenting a talent show.”
“In any case, the entertainment scored very moderately on NPO 1, RTL 4 and SBS 6 in recent weeks. Isn’t it time for Friday night king Gerard Joling to present a major entertainment program again?”
Big compliment
Gerard thinks this is very thoughtful of Tina, he tells Shownieuws. “It is of course an incredible compliment from Tina, because she is a lady who really understands television. Of course I had my top time at SBS 6, which of course we did all sorts of things. So You Wanna Be A Popstar, Stars Dancing on Ice, Ordinary Popstar, Who Am I.”
He continues: “Of course they were all bangers: Move Like Michael Jackson. What did we do with it? Hole in the Wall. We’ve done so many things. But I am now at RTL and I know: RTL has a lot of presenters, so I don’t think they are waiting for me at all. But of course I could.”
‘He brings jeu’
Patty Brard thinks that we should not make the role of Gerard in the mega hit The Masked Singer too small. “Well, but yes, you should also not forget that in The Masked Singer, for example, his role is… That looks like that of a jury member, but his role is really very big. Because of course he brings the jeu everywhere.”
Colleague Bart Ettekoven would like to see more Gerard. “I hope so. It would be nice to see him again on a Friday or Saturday night big show. With lots of feathers and good entertainment.”
