Gerard Joling thinks it is a shame that RTL 4 is so strict when it comes to performances in competitor programs. Why are they so hard on him? “Six zeros…”
RTL 4 boss Peter van der Vorst wants Gerard Joling to meet two requirements before he can go to the Today Inside studio: he must promote music and he is not allowed to talk about his canceled foreigners’ show. The singer was very diplomatic about this on television this week, but… In The Walkways he shows the back of his tongue.
Gerard in VI
Gerard says in Wilfred Genee’s column that he would like to join Today Inside, even though his manager doesn’t really want that either. “I don’t care about that, because ultimately I decide for myself. You knew I’ll be here again next week, didn’t you?”
Next Thursday he will visit the talk show again to promote a new single. “Then it comes out the next day. It couldn’t be more beautiful. Then they can stream that record right away. That’s the thing right now.”
‘RTL is making things difficult’
Wilfred then asks him about his connection with RTL. “RTL is also difficult, every now and then, isn’t it?”
Gerard looks difficult and makes the sound of a snorting horse. Wilfred: “We would have liked to have you in the Ziggo Dome, but that wasn’t allowed, was it?”
Gerard agrees: “No.”
Wilfred: “That Ziggo Dome would have been fantastic.”
Gerard: “That would have been fantastic.”
‘They are very difficult’
Wilfred is disappointed. “André van Duin was also fantastic, who we had there. And then there’s you.”
Gerard: “Yes, they are very difficult to do. They already find this on the edge.”
In any case, RTL does not want Gerard with its competitor on Friday evenings, because he will then be in The Masked Singer. “That’s the worst, yes. They just can’t handle that on Friday evening. I understand that, because I get a lot of money for it, of course.”
Wilfred: “Yes, do you earn something or not at RTL? What are we talking about then?”
Six zeros
Gerard does not want to mention the exact number. “Hahaha. Well, I’m not going to say that into the microphone, I’ll say that to you.”
Wilfred: “Yes, is it that bad?”
Gerard: “Yes, that is a lot of money, yes, so I think that is your boss after all.”
Wilfred: “You’re talking about six zeros?”
Gerard confirms that. “Yes, for sure, yes. He wants to know everything. We’re not running yet, are we? Don’t you worry! I’m still counting from three years ago!”
