Gerard Joling is extremely shocked by the images of Gordon singing out of tune. “I must say that my conifers are certainly dead on the path. Hahahaha,” he screams.
In principle, Gerard Joling no longer wants to be provoked too much when it comes to Gordon, but when the opponent starts, that is a different matter. During an interview at his album presentation, Gordon lashed out in a rather false manner at Gerard and his repertoire, which contains many party songs.
Not even 1 percent
Gordon has now made an album with all kinds of covers of listening songs and he will of course never be invited to a party tent. And that is precisely what nibbling artists need. But wait, Goor doesn’t want that either! “I’m not going back on the party circuit with Two Mothballs, am I? Sorry, but we really have had that time.”
What an ugly comment about Gerard and his hit Twee Motten, says Radio 538 star Rick Romijn. “You know what’s funny? Gordon sings not even 1 percent as well as Gerard Joling,” he says The 538 Morning Show.
“He’s not hitting a note!”
Colleague Tim Klijn fully agrees with this. “I completely agree with you, yes.”
Rick: “Gordon can’t… He doesn’t hit a note anymore! He only sings out of tune and Gerard is still a very good singer for 62 or 63.”
Tim: “And a nice guy, huh? Let’s not forget that, of course.”
They decide to give Gerard a call…
‘That is the difference’
Gerard thinks it’s a bit below the belt. “I heard a few bits on Gordon’s television and well, okay, I’ve heard worse, hahaha, so about that… No, you know what, let it go. I have to tell you: I still love performing and they still book me, that’s the difference.”
He continues: “And luckily I can still handle it very well. I do 130 a year. These are all big parties, beautiful festivals and De Toppers, so I am very happy. That someone else wouldn’t want to enter the country with mothballs… Don’t do that! Leave it to the real professionals, who fortunately can still sing very well.”
Dead conifers
Performing at this level is not a hobby, Gerard explains. For example, he exercises five or six times a week to stay in top condition. “If you don’t sing for a long time and you don’t keep up with it, then it becomes a little more difficult, I think.”
And you can see that in Gordon, he concludes. “It indeed didn’t sound good and it was indeed all out of tune. That could be nervousness or awkwardness, I don’t know, but if I say something about it, things always break out. But I have to say that at least my conifers are dead on the path. Hahahaha. But let’s talk about fun things.”
