After the collapse of Radio 538, John de Mol cannot use one thing: his most listened to station Radio 10 also takes a dive. Gerard Ekdom is the big star of the channel, but there is a lot of pressure on him. The new major competitor JOE even seems to have made him an offer of 800 thousand euros.
‘Gerard not in place’
According to John’s company Talpa, there is absolutely nothing wrong and everyone is awful happy, but AD media journalist Marcus den Blanken states that that is not entirely correct. “I do catch some things… I don’t think Gerard Ekdom is quite in his place at Radio 10 anymore,” he says in the AD Media podcast.
Gerard is struggling to find his bearings, he knows. “Gerard Ekdom has already spoken to various parties and just doesn’t seem to feel completely comfortable with Radio 10 anymore. He seems to lack some appreciation.”

It is not yet clear where exactly Gerard would like to go. “I understand that he really wants to continue doing the morning, so a switch to JOE does not seem to be an option, because Coen and Sander will do the morning there. But he also seems to like Radio Veronica,” said the journalist.
Radio Veronica recently ceased to belong to Talpa and Rob Stenders was due to leave. “Rob Stenders is going to switch to Radio 2. He will simply return to BNNVARA. He still had an open contract: come back. Yes, Rob is always welcome there. That’s just, he’s been away for a while…”
Chance available
Rob can currently be heard on Radio Veronica from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and the morning show there is in the hands of Frank van der Lende. If Gerard is such a terrible morning tiger, Frank will be worried.
Marcus: “There is a chance that Ekdom will leave Radio 10 at some point and then Veronica is quite a plausible option.”
