Glennis Grace’s explosion of violence in an Amsterdam branch of the Jumbo came very close to actress Georgina Verbaan. She always does her shopping in this supermarket in the Jordaan. It has done a lot for the neighborhood, explains the actress in the talk show Khalid & Sophie.

Georgina’s Jumbo

Talk show host Khalid Kasem asks Georgina about it on last night’s broadcast. “Do I understand that this all happened in your neighborhood supermarket?”

Georgina replies: “Well, I like that you call it my neighborhood supermarket, because I read everywhere: ‘Glennis Grace’s neighborhood supermarket.’ I think, well, that’s a lot of people’s neighborhood supermarket. Yes, I don’t know what else to say, it seems like a fine punishment.”

lovely people

Khalid hopes for a harsh comment from Georgina: “Yes, but it’s intense if it’s your supermarket and you go there often?”

Georgina then indicates that she knows the victims very well. “Certainly, because such lovely people work there and the same faces for a hundred years. It really caused a shock wave through the neighborhood.”

Khalid: “I can imagine that. Well, let’s not talk about the punishment, because that doesn’t make much sense. She has of course also received a lot of punishment in public opinion.”

Disappointed

What do the people in the Jordaan think of the punishment for Glennis? She will receive 200 hours of community service, but will not go to jail. RTL Boulevard reporter Aran Bade: “They are a bit disappointed.”

Aran has traveled to the Amsterdam district. “They say, ‘200 hours? You can smash the entire Jumbo and if you stick your head to a painting it will be punished more severely.’ But they also say: ‘We have to make a point, we’ve been working on it for so long.’”

No compensation has been awarded to the victims, but they can still claim it in civil proceedings. Perhaps there is an opportunity there for Glennis, says TV expert Rob Goossens in Boulevard. “Then it will be easier for all of us to draw a line under it.”

“So now that the judge is passing on the compensation, Glennis can also say: ‘I will voluntarily compensate the boys for the damage.’ Glennis can just say that himself and that would of course help enormously.”
