Former F1 driver and owner of garage Eddie Jordan believes in Mercedes drivers George Russellin wedged past the number one driver Lewis Hamilton.
– Hamilton is no longer the number one driver, not even in his own stable, because Russell has taken his place.
Despite Mercedes ’difficulties, Russell has managed to get more out of an underperforming car. He has been the only driver of all races to be in the top five in every race.
Hamilton, meanwhile, has been frustrated with his car. Excluding the Bahrain GP, where both Red Bulls suspended, his best finish this season has been fourth.
“It’s going to be really interesting how Lewis is going to get over this,” F1 expert Jordan told Planetf1.
Mercedes team manager Toto Wolff has denied that there is a change going on inside the stable. He says he just smiles at the news that Russell has replaced Hamilton.
