Geert Oldenbeuving exhibits for four afternoons in Museum De Wemme in Zuidwolde

Geert Oldenbeuving exhibits between Christmas and New Year’s Eve in Museum De Wemme in Zuidwolde. The exhibition starts on December 26 and ends on December 29. On Tuesdays the museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The other days between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM. There is no entrance fee.

Oldenbeuving is an artist from Hoogeveen. He paints, draws, teaches painting and recently illustrated the book that has just been published A Special Guest . This is about Vincent van Gogh’s stay in Hoogeveen and the story of Adriaan, son of Mr. Hartsuiker, who was a guest house 140 years ago. The book can be viewed at the museum counter.

Innovation and unique paintings

The artist is always looking for innovation. He often processes his work with fire or hot air. This creates new structures, allowing him to create unique paintings. His work is both figurative and abstract. Furthermore, he is and was actively involved in all kinds of events such as Kunstroute Hoogeveen, the Karel Appelbokaal, the Herman Brood Year and now the Van Gogh Year. At concerts by the cellist Francois le Roux from South Africa and at project choir Vocalin Drenthe, Oldenbeuving ‘translated’ their music into his paintings.

Sunflowers

Oldenbeuving also makes work in 3D. There are mosaic benches by him at Theater De Tamboer and in the Steenbergerpark. Another example is the artwork of sunflowers that was commissioned in September at the roundabout on the Van Limburg Stirumstraat in Hoogeveen, where he collaborated with Michel Lepez.
