Geert (53) discovers that the piece of marble in his wall is 2,000 years old and of inestimable value | Domestic

Geert De Temmerman (53) wanted to know how much the piece of marble in the stairwell of his parental home in Herzele in East Flanders was worth. So he had two experts from the Gallo-Roman museum in Tongeren come to the villa to inspect the wall. They couldn’t believe their eyes, because the marble turned out to be 2,000 years old and of inestimable value. Moreover, it was stolen from Pompeii almost 50 years ago. “Not much later the police were at the door,” says Geert at HLN.
