In the investigation into suspected serious sabotage, the Swedish public prosecutor’s office decided to cordon off the area in order to be able to investigate the crime scene, public prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist said on Monday evening. Since an investigation is only just beginning, he cannot go into detail about the measures that will be taken.
According to the Swedish Coast Guard, an area five nautical miles (almost nine kilometers) wide was cordoned off in the afternoon. This means that, among other things, you are not allowed to drive through the ship, anchor, dive or fish there. Whether the measure only relates to the two leaks in Sweden’s exclusive economic zone or also to the two others in Denmark’s zone was not clear from the information provided by the Swedish authorities in the evening.
