Gauff can equal Krejcíková and Pierce with two titles at Roland Garros | NOW

Coco Gauff can win two titles at Roland Garros this weekend. The eighteen-year-old tennis player will be in the final of the singles on Saturday and also qualified for the final battle in the doubles on Friday.

Gauff and her partner Jessica Pegula settled in an all-American doubles semifinal with Madison Keys and Taylor Townsend: 6-4 and 7-6 (4).

In the final, the eighth seeded duo of Gauff/Pegula will face Lyudmyla Kichenok/Jeļena Ostapenko or Caroline Garcia/Kristina Mladenovic. The second semifinal is scheduled for later on Friday.

Gauff could become the third tennis star this century to win singles and doubles at Roland Garros in the same year. The Czech Barbora Krejcíková succeeded last year and the French Mary Pierce won two titles in Paris in 2000.

Gauff reached her first singles final at a Grand Slam tournament on Thursday by beating Italy’s Martina Trevisan in two sets in the semifinal. The Polish number one in the world Iga Swiatek is the opponent of the global number 23 on Saturday afternoon.

The young American has already played doubles in a Grand Slam final. Last year she lost to compatriot Caty McNally in the final battle of the US Open against Samantha Stosur and Zhang Shuai. With Pegula, Gauff was the best this season in the hard court tournament of Qatar.
