Gas stations in trouble due to vandalism: ‘Can’t see how much you fill up’

Anyone who wants to refuel in and around the De Rompert district in Den Bosch this Friday cannot go to all gas stations. Vandalism was caused on Thursday night at several gas stations, but also at ATMs, cars and scooters. At one gas station it is no longer possible to refuel at all, but other pumps are also making do. The police have arrested a suspect, a 31-year-old man from Den Bosch.

The destroyer smashed the glass of the pumps at the Esso gas station on Grobbendoncklaan. “People cannot fill up here at the moment. The pump counters are completely defective. So you don’t know how much you are filling up,” says an employee of the gas station.

The company that will carry out the repairs has been informed, but it is not yet clear when refueling will be possible again. “We are urgently on the list. We just don’t know yet when it will be our turn because we are not the only ones. It’s Friday so I hope everything will be fixed before the weekend, but that’s not certain yet.”

You can still refuel at the BP gas station on Sint Teunislaan, but you cannot properly read how much you are refueling. An employee probably saw the suspected perpetrator. “I was starting work early this morning when I suddenly saw a lot of glass on the ground outside. The perpetrator broke the screens in a short time. Ten minutes earlier I had already seen someone cycling with a hood on, but I thought he was just on his way to work.”

The unmanned Total gas station on the Bruistensingel was also damaged. There is a Shell gas station on the same street that is manned. Employee Maud tells what she saw at Total: “There are four pumps at that gas station and the glass at one pump was smashed. As a result, the pump on the other side no longer works. So half of the gas station is no longer working.”
