Gas leak in the center of De Haan: “Avoid this neighbourhood”

The leak originated during road works. A tap hit the medium pressure pipe. “We have been able to close the gap for the time being, but not yet definitively,” says Mayor Vandaele. “I expect that we will keep the perimeter for at least another hour.”

No evacuation

The municipality asks to avoid the neighborhood. She also asks the residents of Grotestraat, Stationsstraat, Kardinaal Mercierlaan and Bredeweg to stay indoors and to keep windows and doors closed.

The residents have not been evacuated, because that would be too risky.
