Gas leak in Oudenburg: flames shot out of the ground, two houses preventively misted
At around 10 a.m. this morning, workers hit a low-pressure gas pipeline while working in Zandvoordsestraat in Oudenburg. But that gas leak caught fire. The fire service allowed the fire to continue in a controlled manner, but did have the neighborhood evacuated. There was no immediate damage to nearby houses, but two houses were continuously misted to prevent damage.
Fluvius arrived on the scene and dug two wells to shut off the gas line and stop the fire.
After a good two hours, the fire was extinguished, and the gas pipeline was closed. This afternoon they are now going to repair the network so that they have gas in the area again.
