Gas leak after accident in Ypres: building temporarily evacuated

“We received the report around 7:18 pm,” says Kristof Louagie of Westhoek Fire Brigade.

“It concerns a leak in the medium pressure pipe. We have set up a perimeter so that network manager Fluvius can close the pipe and repair the leak.”

Around 8:35 pm, the Westhoek Fire Brigade announced that the situation was under control. “The Fluvius services now handle everything else.”

Preventive evacuation

Due to the leak, the buildings of the football stadium were also evacuated for a while. An ambulance came to the scene to check the driver of the car.
