The cost of the January futures for one thousand cubic meters of gas on the London ICE exchange exceeded $ 1900, follows from the data of the exchange. During the day, it grew by about $ 200.

As of 13:30 Moscow time, the cost of one thousand cubic meters of gas was $ 1915. The last time at this level, prices were in early October, setting a historical record.

Gas prices in Europe are growing under the influence of several factors. Among them is the predicted cooling on the European continent. Also, the jump in price growth was provoked by the suspension of the operation of the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline. The Kremlin called this decision “commercial” and refused to link it with gas filling the second string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Russian gas supplies to Germany via the Yamal-Europe pipeline have been significantly reduced since December 18. According to Reuters, deliveries on that day decreased to 1.2 million kWh (energy equivalent deliveries) compared to an average of 10 million kWh on December 17 and about 12 million kWh on December 16. This happened against the backdrop of the European gas market approaching peak winter demand.
