Gary Wright has died aged 80

Gary Wright passed away on Monday (September 4th) at the age of 80 after long-term health problems.

This was announced by Justin Wright, son of the musician. He shared that his father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia a few years ago. After rapid progression of the diseases, Wright lost the ability to speak and move. He died in the presence of his family and loved ones.

The composer gained notoriety with his two hits in the mid-70s, “Dream Weaver” and “Love Is Alive”. He is also considered the first mainstream artist to introduce the synthesizer to pop music. Over the course of his career, the artist released 12 studio albums and collaborated with many musicians, including ex-Beatles guitarist George Harrison. Wright played keyboards on Harrison’s All Things Must Pass album and also contributed to many of the “silent Beatle’s” other solo projects.
