The NHL-leading Boston Bruins shocked the puck crowd this week when the club announced that it had signed a player by Mitchell Miller20, with.
Miller has been known to bully his dark-skinned classmates at school Isaiah Meyer-Crothers in a cruel way as a middle schooler.
Commissioner of the NHL Gary Bettman told a press conference in Tampere that the league was not aware of Miller’s signing of the contract.
– He is not eligible for representation in the NHL at the moment, Bettman stated.
– I can’t say that he is forever unrepresentable in the NHL. We need to figure out his background before he can play in the NHL, which is presumably what the Bruins want at some point.
Boston had the right to sign Miller, but the NHL still has a long way to go.
– He was free to make a contract with the Bruins so that he plays in another league.
The Arizona Coyotes signed Miller to the NHL in 2020, but soon had to waive his rights due to misdemeanors.
Miller has reportedly bullied Meyer-Crothers, who suffered from reading difficulties, for several years and, among other things, forced her to eat candy floated in the urinal.
– Through the media, I am of the opinion that the actions he did at the age of 14 cannot be accepted, Bettman said.
Miller’s contract has been strongly received by the Bruins’ NHL team. Among other things, experienced Nick Foligno said the team was not happy with the news.
– It was a tough place to hear in our group, I won’t lie. We care a lot about each other and how we treat people, Foligno said.
