American decathlete Garrett Scantling will not participate in the World Athletics Championships in Eugene. The American anti-doping agency USADA is investigating the competitor because he has had ambiguities in his whereabouts reports.
Scantling was unavailable to doping testers three times during the year. Scantling accepted a conditional suspension, and thus will not compete in the World Championships in Eugene.
Scantling was among the medal contenders in his sport. He is this season’s statistical leader in the whole world. Scantling finished fourth a year ago at the Tokyo Olympics.
Earlier, during the World Championships, it became clear that there was another athlete from the United States Randolph Ross is suspected of a doping violation. Rossi, who won Olympic gold in the 400-meter relay team in his career, is suspected of evading a doping test.
