Garbage not collected because the labor inspectorate considers the transfer hall unsafe

The labor inspectorate has closed the waste transfer hall at Treurenburg in Den Bosch because it is unsafe for the staff. This means that no waste will be collected from households and companies in the municipality of Den Bosch for the next two weeks.

The municipality of Den Bosch had previously been warned by the labor inspectorate that the situation at the Treurenburg was not safe. The municipality hoped to solve this by closing the adjacent recycling center. This made it less busy around the transhipment point. After a final check, the storage still turned out to be unsafe, which means that the Treurenburg will now be closed to all garbage trucks for two weeks.

Plan of approach
All the collected waste comes together at the Treurenburg transfer point. From there it is transported to various waste processors. The municipality must now submit an action plan to improve safety. If the labor inspectorate approves this, the hall can open again.

For the residents of Den Bosch, this means that their wheelie bins containing residual and green waste will not be collected for the next two weeks. This also applies to paper and plastic. The municipality is trying to empty the underground and above-ground containers. Treurenburg recycling center will now open again and the recycling center will remain open.

Accidents
There have been more problems in the past regarding garbage collection in Den Bosch. These usually involved accidents involving garbage trucks in which garbage collectors were injured. Two weeks ago, a fatal accident occurred at a similar transhipment site in Limburg. The victim was hit by a shovel, the Limburger reported.
