Game shot in ten minutes: Kaiserslautern ice cold after a break in Fürth

Status: 08/21/2022 3:31 p.m

After half one, 1. FC Kaiserslautern seemed to be about to go bankrupt at SpVgg Greuther Fürth. But the promoted team shocked Fürth on the 5th match day of the 2nd Bundesliga thanks to a spectacular increase in performance and efficiency.

On Sunday (08/21/2022) the Lauterers took home a 3-1 (0-1) away win in Franconia. Fürth had the perfect start thanks to Tobias Raschl’s early opening goal (13th). Kaiserslautern struggled, Fürth managed almost everything.

But after the break, the visitors, who were now punishing the home side’s mistakes, only had ten minutes to turn the game around: Philipp Hercher (46′) and Mike Wunderlich (54′) celebrated. Kenny Redondo set the final point (79th).

Fürth destroyed chances on the assembly line in half one

The fact that Lautern won in the end must give the home side, who are still waiting for their first win of the season, food for thought. Because the SpVgg took control directly, attacking the guests again and again early. A pass from Dickson Abiama landed the ball at young striker Armindo Sieb, who played the ball towards the left post, where Raschl scrambled the ball into the goal.

And as a result, Fürth ignited a firework of opportunities. Only Sieb (20th) and Abiama (26th) missed the second goal. Shortly thereafter, captain Branimir Hrgota failed to FCK keeper Andres Luthe (39th).

Kaiserslautern only had a good opportunity shortly before the break through Redondo (44′). However, the half-time speech by coach Dirk Schuster was obviously fruitful. And the Palatinate came out of the dressing room as if they had been changed, Hercher and Wunderlich scored. A misunderstanding between keeper Andreas Linde and Max Christiansen in Fürth was quickly used by Redondo to make a decision.
