Resulted in police action
After the game was abandoned in the Regionalliga West due to a storming of the pitch, 1. FC Köln and Rot-Weiss Oberhausen announced that they would work up the game. “SC Rot-Weiß Oberhausen eV will now seek legal advice and evaluate what options there are,” said board member and safety officer Thorsten Binder in a written statement on Saturday. Since this is a pending procedure, the club will not make any further official statements.
The people of Cologne declared via Twitter that they wanted to “discuss the background”. “We condemn any form of disregard for respectful interaction and fair sporting behavior. We feel sorry for the real fans who saw a great game up until then and for our boys who were close to their first win of the season.”
