Galeria joins the ‘Fur Free Retailer Program’

The course for the future of Galeria after the ongoing insolvency proceedings has been set and sustainability seems to be the focus, because the department store group is joining the ‘Fur Free Retailer Program’.

Galeria announced its entry into the program, which provides customers with a list of fur-free retailers, in a post on the LinkedIn careers network on Tuesday.

“We at Galeria see sustainability as an essential part of our entrepreneurial activities and understand animal welfare as a fundamental component of our sustainability strategy,” says Chief Merchandise Officer Edo Beukema, who returned to the management of the department store group in March. Accordingly, the exclusion of real fur in the Galeria range has been an integral part of the sustainability guideline for suppliers for several years. The orientation is now being further strengthened by joining the Fur Free Retailer program.

The news follows just under a week after the new Galeria boss Olivier van den Bossche announced that the remaining branches of the department store group will in future focus much more on local specialties when it comes to the range.
