In the 6th and last week of the FIBA Champions League Group I, Galatasaray Nef lost to Germany’s MHP Riesen team 64-58.
Galatasaray Nef took the lead by catching an 8-0 series in the struggle where both teams had difficulty in finding points for about 2 minutes. Playing an effective defense under the basket for a long time, the home team scored consecutive points in the last 2 minutes. Having difficulty in scoring after their offensive turnovers, the yellow-red team finished the first quarter ahead 16-11.
MHP Riesen, who caught the second quarter in the last parts of the first quarter, reduced the lead to an odd number in a short time (23-22). 20 seconds before the end of the second quarter, which witnessed the contentious struggle of both teams, MHP Riesen equalized the score and the first half of the fight ended 32-32.
Galatasaray Nef, who started the third part of the fight with a 5-0 series, had difficulties in making use of the opportunities he caught in the attack, and managed to take the lead in the 27th minute with successive baskets (37-38). MHP Riesen, who did not fall behind in the remaining section after turning the score in their favor, finished the third quarter of the match with a 46-42 advantage.
Starting the last quarter with a basket and increasing the gap to 6 points, the German team increased the gap even more with three minutes left (57-47). Directing Galatasaray Nef to outside shots, MHP Riesen quickly responded to the yellow-red people’s moves to reduce the score and won the fight 64-58.
Galatasaray Nef, who had 5 defeats in the group, lost the chance to skip the tour before the last matches.
