Juju on Instagram: The rapper talks about a possible gag contract – fans speculate about the reasons for her release break.

Rapper Juju caused a stir with a stirring Instagram story: “Best media lawyer in DE?” she asked her community. Shortly afterwards she explained: “For everyone who asks what exactly it’s about: about music, about a gagging contract…” and added: “It can’t be the case that real artists are constantly being suppressed!”

Musical album break since “Bling Bling”

Her last album release was a few years ago: her first and only solo album “Bling Bling” was released in 2019. Afterwards, Juju released several singles and features with artists such as badmómzjay, Nina Chuba and Bonez MC, but a new album has not yet been released.

Fans speculate about a gag contract

After her call on Instagram, there was a lot of speculation on social media: Does Juju need support to get out of a gag contract – or is she speaking for someone else? Many fans see this as a possible explanation for their long release break. They express their concerns and solidarity using the hashtag #freejuju44.

Pressure from the music industry

The fact that Juju has repeatedly had to struggle with pressure from labels and management is not new. Already in the song “Bis zur Spree”, together with rapper Aylo, she criticizes the grievances in the music business and draws attention to the special challenges for women: “The industry is a lying bitch / but I will fuck myself / even without a dick / believe me”. It goes on to say: “They sold me like a commodity and stuff like that / only ever wanted TikTok, fake smiles, music without passion, session after session.”

Juju’s music has been released on the labels Universal Music and JINX Music since 2019.

Own label as a liberation?

Fans also see the founding of her own label as an indication that she wants to defend herself against the oppression and exploitation of major labels in the music industry. Juju founded her own label under the name VIERVIER MUSIC in April 2024 and immediately signed Aylo with her first signing. The label is primarily intended to offer young artists a platform – independent of large corporations.

Live successful despite release break

Although Juju has released little new music in recent years, her previous releases have been enough to remain a frequently booked artist. In 2022 she played her successful “F*** Your Insta Tour” and in 2024 she performed at the Splash! Festival in Ferropolis and the Spektrum Festival in Hamburg.
