Despite the price of 499 US dollars, according to McFarland, the first tickets have all been sold.
After Panne organizer Billy McFarland announced his plans for a second Fyre Festival via TikTok, he now announced in a recent interview that the tickets for the first pre-sale round were sold out within a short time. Neither a line-up nor a location or even a fixed date were announced in advance.
The inaugural Fyre Festival rose to fame in 2017 as a viral failure and major scam after being promoted by McFarland and his partner, rapper Ja Rule, as a “luxury event for millennials” with plenty of live acts and specials. The festival was supposed to take place on the Bahamas island of Exuma – but when the visitors arrived, the ticket buyers found themselves on an empty or still under construction field. Instead of the luxuries they were promised, there were only tents and pre-packaged sandwiches for the local people.
McFarland has been sued multiple times and in 2018 was sentenced to six years in prison for wire fraud. He also owed $26 million in debt, which he had to pay to investors in the first Fyre Fest. According to McFarland, however, he now has new investors who are willing to pay off his remaining debt and fund the second round of the Fyre Festival. However, he did not name names in this regard.
The first 100 tickets sold for $499, but the price is expected to increase with each new sale launch. According to the current status, the festival should take place in the Caribbean, sometime towards the end of 2024.
