The first 100 tickets are now on sale.
Billy McFarland has been at large for over a year. Now he’s sharing his plan for Fyre Festival II via TikTok. The first 100 tickets are also available in advance — for $499 per ticket.
The inaugural Fyre Festival rose to fame in 2017 as a viral failure and major scam after being promoted by McFarland and his partner, rapper Ja Rule, as a “luxury event for millennials” with plenty of live acts and specials. The festival was supposed to take place on the Bahamas island of Exuma – but when the visitors arrived, the ticket buyers found themselves on an empty or still under construction field. Instead of the luxuries they were promised, there were only tents and pre-packaged sandwiches for the local people. McFarland has been sued multiple times and in 2018 was sentenced to six years in prison for wire fraud.
But as soon as he was released from prison, he announced his latest plans: “It was the most absurd journey that brought me here and it really all started during my seven months of solitary confinement,” he says in a TikTok video. “I made this 50-page plan that it takes a deep interest in Fyre Festival and my ability to bring people together from all over the world to create the impossible. How I would find the best partners in the world to allow me to be myself while fulfilling the vision of Fyre Festival to the max… In the meantime, we’ll be having pop-ups and events around the world. Guys, this is your chance to be there. That’s all I’ve been working towards. Let’s fucking go,” he continues, pointing out the possibility of buying tickets.
However, very little is known about the festival. Neither the line-up nor the exact location have been made public, although the place of the event was initially given as “the Caribbean”. It is expected to take place in December 2024.
McFarland previously announced a pirate-themed scavenger hunt in the Bahamas, but the government was quick to let him know he was no longer welcome there.
In the first presale, the tickets are available for the sum of 499 US dollars. The last tickets will then be sold for 7,999 US dollars.
