Online luxury fashion retailer Fwrd, part of the Revolve Group, has launched a new resale initiative, Fwrd Buyback, to add circular luxury shopping to its sustainability strategy.
Created to extend the lifecycle of high-end designer handbags from brands such as Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, Loewe and The Row, Fwrd Buyback will also feature highlights from Creative Director Kendall Jenner’s latest selection for Fwrd and her offer your own wardrobe.
The resale program aims to ensure Fwrd is a “one-stop destination for customers” by allowing them to exchange previously purchased bags in excellent condition in return for credit towards purchases made at Fwrd and Revolve.
In addition, Fwrd will also offer “extra perks” for loyal members who sell their bags back to Fwrd: 2,000 points for the first buyback transaction, a $20 reward, and 1,000 points thereafter, a reward of 10 US dollars (around 10 euros).
Fwrd buys back designer handbags and launches resale program
Fwrd added that the buyback program, which is currently only available to US customers, is backed by proprietary data and verified purchase history, with full-price buyback available up to a year after the original purchase through a personal Fwrd account should be processed “seamlessly”. Once the buyback is confirmed and accepted, a credit of 50 percent of the original purchase price will be issued.
Handbags that have been accepted for Fwrd buyback are then reintroduced to the Fwrd community via Fwrd Renew at prices between 25 and 50 percent off the original retail price.
“With Fwrd Buyback, we are expanding the Fwrd segment of our business as a destination for the best established and emerging luxury brands from end to end. We believe in celebrating great design and cultivating a circular relationship between brands and consumers. In doing so, we combine our authentication and service capabilities to offer a comprehensive range of exciting products at an incredible price,” added Michael Mente, co-CEO and co-founder of Revolve Group.
Kendall Jenner, who was appointed creative director of Fwrd in September 2021, added, “The more I work with the Fwrd team, the more I learn how much they understand their customers. The Fwrd Buyback program is further proof that they always listen, and I’m thrilled that after years of hard work perfecting the system, it’s finally coming to fruition.”
