Futsal players Hovocubo will still start the first final for the national title tomorrow

The final for the national championship futsal will start tomorrow evening. Hovocubo will then play the home match against FC Eindhoven. That game was supposed to be played in Zwaag last Friday, but due to a threatening situation for public order and safety, that game was canceled at the last minute.

Details about that threat were not given. However, it had to do with the semi-final that Hovocubo played against Tigers Roermond last Sunday. That game was called off shortly before time. The reason was a disturbance on the field and bottles that were thrown on the field. Supporters also entered the floor. According to the KNVB, the semi-finals had to be played without an audience and on neutral grounds. Tigers Roermond disagreed and didn’t show up, putting Hovocubo in the final.

Fewer spectators

The match in sports hall De Opgang in Zwaag starts tomorrow evening at 8 p.m. There has been prior consultation between the municipality of Hoorn, the police and the clubs to steer the game in the right direction. A maximum of 350 supporters may be present at the final. That is half the normal maximum number of spectators. It has been agreed that it concerns 300 supporters of the home club and 50 of the opponent. Tickets purchased for last Friday’s match are no longer valid. Those supporters get their money back.

No Sander van Dijk

Hovocubo coach Sander van Dijk is missing from the finals. The club says in a statement that “due to recent events, especially in the private sphere, he will no longer be present for the remainder of the season”. Appie Marbah takes over the tasks of the success trainer. Van Dijk had received the red card in the clash against Tigers Roermond and was therefore suspended for one game by the KNVB.

The return is next Friday in Eindhoven. If necessary, the third and decisive game will also follow in Eindhoven on Sunday.
