The municipality of Hoogeveen has decided to adjust the location policy. Entrepreneurs are given more room to install a stall or sales car, also outside the previously determined places. The reason? The fuss around the spring pia window in Elim.

“When the permit from the spring pea window in Elim ended, it yielded quite a bit,” says Alderman Niek Wind. “We had nineteen permanent places on a map and we had to do it with that.”

The old ‘maximum system’, where only a location permit could be applied for at predetermined places, has now been released. According to Wind, there have been signals from entrepreneurs for some time. “They said: we want to be with you to see how the policy can be adjusted. And we did that.”

Not only the choice of location has been adjusted, but also the term of a permit changes. Instead of five years, a period of ten years will soon apply.

And what about the spring pia window in Elim? “The owner still has to make a formal application, but if he receives a permit, it is immediately one for ten years,” says Wind.

Other entrepreneurs with a plan can also apply. It is then looked at what is possible. “Of course we still pay attention to things like road safety, but more is possible than before.”
