The Flemish Government also provides for more than 12 million euros in this GIP for the upgrading and restoring the Channel Roeselare-Leie. For the next 15 years, Flanders will provide 855 million euros for the entire Seine-Schelde project. In addition, 4, 8 million euros is being released for it Kanaal Bossuit-Kortrijk.
On the agenda of the GIP is the Weather Westhoek project, with which the Flemish Government Water control in the Westhoek Want to improve after the exceptional rainfall and floods of November 2023. Almost 28 million E euros was released for this project. These investments are much needed to structurally tackle water safety in the Westhoek and to make West Flanders more resilient to future floods.
