Further investigations into TeBe player Bähr necessary

The shock is still deep one day after the pitch-black Sunday at Tennis Borussia Berlin!

Two players in the clinic, two dismissals and a 0:4 swatter in the Regionalliga Nordost against Energie Cottbus.

Sad low point: After TeBe central defender Lucas Bähr (30) collapsed without an opponent’s influence, the player, who had only recently recovered from a corona infection, had to be cared for by paramedics and team doctors on the pitch for a few minutes and taken to the Westend Emergency Hospital (DRK).

It was only after the game was interrupted for a total of 27 minutes that the game continued – also because the ambulance was there so late.

Günter Brombosch, Chairman of TeBe, says about BZ: “Lucas Bähr was able to leave the clinic again on Sunday evening. Thank God there were no further complications. At first we were all in shock, you could feel the bad scenes from Christian Ericsen (the Dane had to be resuscitated more than a year ago in the European Championship game after cardiac arrest – editor’s note). We wish Lucas the best and a full recovery. It is still unclear why he had the dizzy spell.”

Also why the ambulance was missing in the Mommsenstadion is still a mystery! Brombosch: “He’s usually ordered for every home game and is always in the driveway. Unfortunately not this time, there must have been a communication error. We will discuss that.”

And what’s next for TeBe defender Bähr?

Sports orthopedist Dr. Thorsten Dolla (also TeBe team doctor): “Lucas is doing better. Nothing was found on the EKG in the clinic. That is why he is now being completely checked out by a cardiologist. The data from his heart rate monitor, which he wore around his chest on the day of the game, is also evaluated.”

Is there a connection between the previous corona disease and the collapse?

Dolla: “That cannot be answered, it would only be speculative. We are now waiting for the investigations, looking for abnormalities. Lucas can’t play and train for that long either.”

Crazy: With center forward Thomas Brechler (36), even a TeBe player had to go to the hospital in the game against Cottbus.

Dolla: “His head collided with the head of an opponent. He had to go to the Martin Luther Hospital, where a CT (computed tomography) was used to check whether there was any bleeding in the head. Luckily that wasn’t the case. However, due to a concussion, he now has to take a break from sports for a few days.”

Bähr and Brechler – two failures that hurt TeBe a lot in the relegation battle!
