FunPlus Phoenix wins Valorant Masters in Copenhagen

The currently best Valorant team in the world comes from Europe: FunPlux Phoenix (FPX) won the Valorant Masters in Copenhagen with a 3-2 final victory over Paper Rex.

“I feel fantastic,” said FPX’s Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks in an interview after the success. The Latvian e-sportsman also announced that the team’s first global title would be celebrated extensively: “We’re going to conquer the world tonight!”

The FPX professionals had to fight hard to celebrate their victory – and not only in the Grand Final against the Indonesian e-sports organization Paper Rex, which went over the maximum distance of five maps.

After losing to Fnatic in the Quarterfinals in the Upper Bracket, FPX followed an impressive run in the losers leg of the tournament. Heading into the finals, the team eliminated Guild Esports, DRX, Fnatic, and OpTic Gaming in the Lower Bracket.

FPX qualified for Valorant World Championship

For the e-sports organization, the success should be associated with great satisfaction: As the winner of the first Challengers edition of the EMEA region this year, FPX was also eligible to play for the Masters in Reykjavik in April. However, due to travel restrictions, the team was unable to attend.

In addition to the $200,000 prize pool, there are important Circuit points for FPX. The team tops the rankings in the EMEA region, which includes Europe. Linked to this is the qualification for the world championship called Champions in September in Istanbul.
