Several hundred guests are expected to attend a funeral service for the Schleswig-Holstein honorary citizen Günther Fielmann on Friday (12 p.m.) at Plön Castle. Fielmann was the founder of the optician chain of the same name. According to the company, he died on January 3rd at the age of 84 in his home town of Lütjensee (Stormarn district).
The guests of honor include Schleswig-Holstein’s Prime Minister Daniel Günther and State Parliament President Kristina Herbst (both CDU).
In addition to a representative of the Fielmann board, Prime Minister Günther also wants to speak. In addition to family members, friends and companions, the guests of honor are also expected to include representatives from business, politics, church, science and culture. According to the company, the guest list includes around 250 long-time employees who have worked particularly closely with the founder.
In a large heated tent in front of the castle, interested citizens can watch a broadcast of the funeral service from the knight’s hall. Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) has ordered flags to be flown at half-mast in the official buildings of all authorities and departments in Schleswig-Holstein on Friday. (dpa)
